Be sure your email address in your resume is as professional as possible.
You can easily set up a professional email address separate from your personal one. It should not contain any nicknames or inferences that might discourage a potential employer.
Examples not to use:

jennifromtheblock@yahoo.com
hothoustonchick@att.net
crazylarry@hotmail.com
starwarsfanatic@yahoo.com
marathonman@att.net
There are many places to go for a quick and free email address. Consider trying Gmail first. Having a Gmail address shows you’re a bit more hip and up to date than people with a regular old comcast.net or earthlink email address. You can go to Gmail or yahoo or hotmail and set up an email address that incorporates your name as much as possible. While you may not be able to get “Your name@hotmail.com” try adding numbers and a couple of letters. For instance, Michael Reed, an accountant, might be able to snag “MichaelReedAcct2006” thereby incorporating his name, initials for his profession and some numbers that are meaningful to him.
You might try selling yourself in your email:
· JimLanierTopProducer2010@whatever.com
· NancyFosterExecAsst01@whatever.com
· ErinMillerWebsiteDesigner01@whatever.com
· TracyHelmsTeamLeaderA1@whatever.com
While you may only use your “professional” email address occasionally, you don’t have to worry about missing emails. Simply set the system to forward all incoming mail to your primary personal email address. However, when you need to respond to a job search email, be sure to use the pro-address as the outgoing address.
Use these tips to create a great professional email address that encourages a potential employer to contact you!
